Campus Updates

The latest events of the semester at NYU Abu Dhabi.

Dec 31, 2024

As the Fall semester came to an end, we reflected on the events that made it memorable. From yet another successful rendition of the Battle of the Bands to the Student Life Fest and Career Fair, the semester was filled with the activities that make NYU Abu Dhabi the vibrant community it is. The final events of the semester made for a festive close to the first half of the academic year, setting high expectations for the Spring.
Open Campus Day
On Nov. 16, NYUAD’s campus welcomed prospective students, their families and other interested visitors for a day full of activities that showcased the university. Campus tours, the Art Gallery’s exhibition presentations, and interactions with representatives from various NYUAD offices offered a glimpse into life on Saadiyat and the opportunities available to students.
Alumni Reunion Weekend
From Nov. 21–24, NYUAD alumni returned to campus from various parts of the globe to reminisce about their experiences at the university and re-engage with the community. They participated in friendly sports meets, campus tours, mini lectures and the Memory Project. Alumni Weekend reinforced NYUAD’s mission of global action and strengthened bonds across the NYUAD community.

National Day Celebrations and Hekayah Festival, 10th Edition
On Dec. 2, the UAE celebrated the 53rd anniversary of the unification of the country. Leading up to the National Day Festivities, NYUAD hosted various events celebrating the UAE’s history, present, and future. Visitors to Sexton Square enjoyed performances of traditional dances, a night souq and talks from various NYUAD community members. On Nov. 28, the Arts Center held the 10th edition of the Hekayah Festival, featuring poetry, music, prose, and dance that all represented the UAE’s identity as a melting pot of cultures.

Candidate Weekend
The Early Decision I candidates came to visit their potential new home for the next four years during Dec. 6-8. A crucial part of the admission process, Candidate Weekend allows prospective students to showcase their academic talents and experience life at NYUAD. Despite days with intense schedules touring the campus, sitting in simulated classrooms, getting interviewed by Professors themselves, and engaging with students from across the globe, the weekend left participants quite exhausted but hopefully also one step closer to making this significant life decision.
